5 cheap ideas to elevate your space

Updated: Mar 19, 2023

One of my very favorite things to do is find cheap ways to elevate my apartment. We deserve to have beautiful, aesthetic spaces even if there's not a lot we can afford! And, at the risk of sounding sooo cheesy, YOU DO TOO.

#1 Sleek Outlet covers

If you haven't heard of these, I'm here to SCREAM it at you. If there is one thing that will elevate your space for FREAKING CHEAP it is cord covers.

These ones are only $20 from Amazon, with 3 outlets at the end.

Forget extension cords if they don't have an outlet cover included. Seriously. Forget them.

#2 Peel-and-Stick

Whether it's peel-and-stick wallpaper, floor or backsplash, I cannot SING ENOUGH about peel-and-stick. This is a method that is renter friendly (when used correctly) and can elevate any space.

An example is this peel-and-stick subway tile backsplash here. Even if your rental kitchen has nasty backsplash (or even no backsplash!) you can fix it up for cheap.

#3 Curtains

Seriously, if you think your space feels a little too "corporate housing", add curtains. Get ones that are a little taller and wider than your window if possible, and they will not only add personality and flavor, they will also enlarge the window's effect.

Take a look at these linen curtains if you need something light and airy!

#4 Motion Sensor LED Lights

You have not felt bougie until you've had motion sensor lights. Luckily for us, they aren't even that expensive!

Usable in almost any space- I've put these under cabinets, in my dark laundry room and underneath my bathroom drawers just to feel special and by golly does it work.

Oh yeah, did I mention these are adhesives you can stick anywhere? And there's a freaking remote?!

#5 clear stackable storage

It may not seem exciting, but I meet it when I say clear storage is the way to go. Maybe not for your messy junk drawer, but almost anything else is elevated when put in these bins.

It's like you're making art out of whatever you are storing!

Trust me. Even if you keep these inside a closet, these elevate your space. You will feel bougie. You will feel slick? Slick. Trust me.

What do you think?

Hopefully this blasts your brain with some idea fodder if nothing else. I love finding cheap ways to make my apartment feel nicer, and hopefully this helps you too!
